I was recently notified via email from ThirdAge, a web reviewing service that I was reviewed. When I went to the site, there was an ANONYMOUS review by a patient who was very dissatisfied with the rhinoplasty that I performed and I was given a terrible rating. Greatly concerned, I reviewed my rhinoplasty photos and could not find a case that had such a terrible result. Very soon after I was notified, I received an offer from ThirdAge to be a “Premium” member for a fee. One of the advantages of becoming a member is that I can delete any reviews that I dont like!!!! How about that. First of all, did ThirdAge write that review as a way to scare up some funds? Secondly, how can anyone trust online reviews of MDs, when negative reviews can be deleted for a price. Let the viewer beware.

Whether you have trouble breathing through your nose because of a deviated septum or other obstructions inside your nose, or do not like how your nose looks, nasal surgery can help you. I am always overjoyed when I remove splints from inside and across patients noses and see how ecstatic they are that the can breathe well and that their nose looks great. Nasal surgery is the cosmetic surgery that I enjoy performing the most. It is technically demanding surgery and perfection is probably impossible to achieve, but I have been fortunate to have received excellent training at the Cleveland Clinic from some world renowned nasal surgeons and have developed an expertise of my own over 30 years of practicing plastic surgery. Over the years techniques have improved and I have improved, enabling me to get consistenly better results. I perform most nasal surgery under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Surgery usually takes 1 to 2 hours, but some more demanding cases can take longer. Any sutures are removed in 5 to 6 days and splints are removed in 10 to 14 days. There may be bruising and swelling, and it is uncomfortable not to be able to breathe well while the splints are in, but the pain is usually well controlled by oral pain meds. Sometimes the results are not perfect and a minor revision is necessary. Nasal surgery to improve breathing is usually covered by insurance, while cosmetic nasal surgery is not. Very often airway surgery is combined with cosmetic rhinoplasty, and insurance will cover part of the expense. I have a lot of experience in nasal surgery and have helped many people over the past 30 years of practice. I am board certified in Plastic Surgery and am a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and my practice is in Schenectady, NY.
